Marshall/Benton Job Fair scheduled for next week

Marshall and Benton county job seekers and employers have a chance to meet again this year, Thursday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building in Holly Springs.

Employers from out of the county will also be plentiful and only employers with real job opportunities will be there.

The Marshall/Benton Area Job Fair is brought again this year by Gov. Haley Barbour’s Job Fair Network, the Holly Springs and Byhalia Chambers of Commerce and Three Rivers Planning and Development District in Pontotoc.

Local volunteers have worked since last year’s fair to make this fair another success.

Job seekers are encouraged to come prepared with work history and/or educational background information to aid easy filing of job applications. Individuals are welcome to visit and discuss job career opportunities with employers. Bring resumes if you have one prepared, but come anyway if you do not.

Employers are expected to have a range of opportunities available for both the unskilled and skilled labor force. Some opportunities will be in commuting distance from home. Others will not. Some employment opportunities expected include jobs in law enforcement, military, education, sales, clerical, transportation, and marine jobs. Dress is casual. Parents should not bring young children with them.

Many job seekers receive job offers the day of the job fair, while others are required to complete additional screening for current and future position vacancies.
