Applications due in January for youth hunt The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Arkabutla Lake will hold their second annual Youth Waterfowl Hunt on February 3 and 4. The Youth Waterfowl Hunt will provide an opportunity for experienced waterfowl hunters to teach the younger generations of hunters proper techniques and ethics of the sport. The hunt will only be open to youth between 10 and 16 years of age. All youth hunters must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older. The youth will be responsible for meeting all age appropriate State and Federal waterfowl hunting regulations. The accompanying adult is encouraged to possess a general knowledge of state and federal hunting regulations concerning waterfowl. The accompanying adult and youth are also encouraged to bring all necessary materials associated with waterfowl hunting, i.e. decoys, chest-waders, duck calls, and shotgun. Applications are available at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office, located at 3905 Arkabutla Dam Rd., Coldwater, MS 38618. Applications must be received by January 24, 2007, by 3:30 p.m. Successful applicants will be notified of their appropriate time and hunting date.
