Simply put, Marshall County lost one of its best citizens last week.

Mary Walker Jones Penilton died Dec. 12 at the young age of 65, but she left a legacy for all of us.

Letter to the Editor

Tragic fire:
Dear Editor,

To the Cayce Fire Department, we want to thank you from our heart for all the work you did and your concern you had during our fire Oct. 10, 2006. You responded so fast and knew just what to do and did it.

We don’t know when the fire started, but it was already too far gone to save one business. But we thank you for keeping it contained in that one building, as it was only six feet from our trailer and two feet from our other business. Thanks to you, you saved the other business and our living quarters. I thank you also for being so kind. Our prayers are with you.
