EducationMSU graduates The following students from this area are among more than 1,200 Mississippi State students who are candidates for degrees at the conclusion of the university’s 2006 fall semester. Primary School says thanks to readers from community By SUE WATSON The Holly Springs Primary School thanks all of our Children’s Book Week special storytellers and their places of business, said librarian Prentis Boatwright. “We really appreciate you and your commitment to our schools!” she said. This year the school stretched out Children’s Book Week for an entire week with adult readers coming in each day to the library to read to children. Adult readers are good examples to the children and demonstrate good citizenship and community involvement as well as willingness to show children appreciation. Readers for children’s book week included Martha Thomas, Holly Springs School district trustee; SSG Hamblin, National Guard; Sgt. 1st Class Fortner, National Guard; Xavier Jones, Holly Springs Fire Department; Dr. Valdez, Williams Medical Clinic; Tracy Jeffries, Holly Springs Fire Department; Sara Power, retired teacher, librarian at Marshall Academy; Barbara Redditt, First State Bank; Charles King, Bank of Holly Springs; Patricia Selman, Holly Springs Police Department; Beverly Phillips, Holly Springs Intermediate School’s Future Educators of America advisor; Dr. Ishmell Edwards, Rust College; Gina Work, Merchants and Farmers Bank; Darlean Gibson, Future Educators of America advisor; Andre’ DeBerry, Holly Springs mayor; Ben Ivester Holly Springs Fire Department; Vernelle Winter, retired teacher; Irene Walton, Holly Springs superintendent of education; Eileen Dowsing, assistant superintendent with Holly Springs School District; Joe Lundine, Southern Homes; Diane Wage retired teacher; Shann Hannah, Holly Springs Fire Department; and Curtis Greer, Greer and White Insurance Agency.
