Brian Smith of Holly Springs killed a 40-point deer with a 21-inch spread on the morning of November 18 in Holly Springs. The deer was estimated to be 8 or 9 years old.

Horse shows set

Marshall County Fair Association will hold the Winter Blues Horse Shows at the Marshall County Fairgrounds, 1569 Hwy. 7 N, Holly Springs

The dates for the horse shows are Dec. 9, Feb. 3 and March 24. Gates open at 2 p.m. Show begins at 4 p.m.

If ice or snow occurs the horse show will be cancelled.
