Zoning denies horse racing By SUE WATSON Two operators of horse racing tracks and their business associates were denied their formal request for a variance to conduct “match races” by the Marshall County Planning Commission Board, Thursday. Rust requests WIN Center support By SUE WATSON Clencie Cotton, with the Rust College Community Development Corp., asked the Marshall County Board of Supervisors for financial support for the local Work Force Investment Program. Playwright visits city By SUE WATSON Lois Swanee, curator of the Marshall County Historical Museum, visited with Greg Thornquist and Dr. Ben Martin several weeks ago. Martin introduced the New York playwright to Swanee and Thornquist presented the museum with a demo-CD of 18 songs that accompany his two-act broadway musical, “By the Blues”. Humane Society recovers expenses in neglect case By SUE WATSON The Marshall County Humane Society has, for the first time ever, recovered the cost of treating neglected animals in Marshall County Justice Court, according to treasurer Dan Gaw. Annual White Oak Pageant held October 7 The second annual White Oak Pageant was held on October 7 in The Byhalia High School gymnasium. Sponsored by Byhalia Family Health 1st Medical Clinic, the pageant featured fifty-three contestants. Report
