EducationLocal business helps students By CHARLES JOHNSON We are proud to have McDonald’s in Holly Springs join our team of supporters who hire our seniors in school that are working to receive an occupational diploma for the year ending May 2007. The students are excited about going to work. I am elated that Bobbie Wilson with McDuff Interprise and Tina Daugherty, manager of McDonald’s did not change a word when they were asked to give these two students a job. These students must earn a total of 540 paid hours to graduate with the occupational diploma. We have several other students that need to be placed, so if there is anyone that would like to help us out, please contact Charles Johnson at 662-838-2206. ext. 112. I would like to thank Tina and Bobbie on behalf of Mr. Jackson, principal of Byhalia High, Marvia Kilgore, director of special services and Don Randolph, superintendent of Marshall County Schools. Hickory Flat School news: Celebrating homecoming Homecoming week has been a busy but great week. Everybody has really shown their spirit by dressing up this week. Homecoming activities will conclude Friday night with the presentation of the homecoming court, followed by the basketball games between the Rebels and Tremont, and the evening will end with a homecoming dance that is being sponsored by the junior class. The Lady Rebels and Rebels played their first home game of the year Tuesday night, October 31, against Pine Grove, and will play at Potts Camp on Thursday night, November 2. The Fall Festival was held last weekend. The PTO did a great job with the Fall Festival. Special thanks go to all of those who helped make it a great success. Thanks for supporting the PTO and our school by supporting the Fall Festival. Next week, the Junior High and High School Beta Clubs will be in charge of the annual Veterans’ Day Program. Since Veterans’ Day is on Saturday this year, our program will be on Friday, November 10. All veterans should report to the Hickory Flat library between 10:30-10:45 a.m. to sign in for the program. The program will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a dinner served to our veterans. Progress reports will be going home next week on November 9.
