Jr. high Patriots rally for victory The Marshall Academy junior high football team evened its record at 3-3 on Tuesday of last week with a 30-14 win at Strider. The Patriots trailed 14-0 at the half and then scored 30 unaswered points in the second half. “We flipped a switch in the second half, scored a bunch of points and won it,” coach Wade Griffin said. The junior high Patriots finish the season this Thursday night, Oct. 26, with a trip to Batesville to face North Delta. Potts Camp boys, girls start season 3-1, 2-1 By BARRY BURLESON The Potts Camp Cardinals handed new head coach Brian Smith a huge victory to start the basketball season. Lady Indians take first By BARRY BURLESON The Byhalia Lady Indians defeated H.W. Byers and Ashland Saturday in the H.W. Byers Preseason Tournament for the first-place trophy. Holly Springs boys, girls win jamboree games The Holly Springs Hawks and Lady Hawks enjoyed a good showing at Saturday’s Baldwyn Basketball Jamboree. Coach Naylond Hayes’ Hawks beat Baldwyn 32-30 and Itawamba Agricultural High School of Fulton 34-17, the contests running two quarters each. Coach Wilbert Beard’s Lady Hawks, also playing two-quarter games, defeated both Baldwyn and Hatley. The Hawks and Lady Hawks tip off the regular season Thursday, Nov. 2, at home against Coldwater. Hannah, Ayers ready to shine for Dragons The Paris (Texas) Junior college Dragons have a new head coach - who is no stranger to the team or the school - a core of returning players and some talented newcomers, a mix that will make for an exciting 2006-07 season.
