SocietyCity Personals Carole Robison and family tour New York Carole Robison of Holly Springs and her daughter Eleanor Horton and granddaughter Anna Carroll Horton of Collierville spent a few days recently touring New York. They attended several Broadway shows while here. Grady Brooks, son of Mary Clay and Gene, celebrated his 5th birthday on Sunday. The party was held at his home. The guests enjoyed an afternoon of playing flag football in the front yard, hide and go seek, whacking a pinata from a tree and making pinch pots from clay. Afterwards, they were treated to a wonderful mummy themed birthday cake made by Talisha Bolden, putrid punch loaded with gummy worms and “alien brownies.” Friends of Grady’s who attended were Thomas Stewart, Bowen Stone, Mabry Freeland, Fort and Mason Jones, Mary Neely and Jake Jones, Erin Burleson, Jacob Truss, Paige Foshee, CJ Samoly, Amanda Barnett and Grady’s big sister, Caitlyn. Everyone had a grand time! Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the weekend guest of Mary Clay and Gene Brooks. He made the special trip to attend his grandson’s birthday party. While here, he also visited with his other daughter, Laura. Shelby and Clay Jones and children, Fort and Mason, of Humboldt, Tenn., spent Sunday afternoon at the Brooks’ home for Grady’s birthday. Leanna Alderson to wed Jason Stacks at First Baptist Church in Potts Camp November 4 Ricky and Marie Alderson of Potts Camp announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Leanna Marie Alderson to Jason Ray Stacks of Potts Camp. He is the son of Dennis and Linda Stacks. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Frances Westmoreland and the late James Clifton Westmoreland and Clyde and Betty Alderson of Potts Camp. She is a graduate of Potts Camp High School and Northwest Community College with a bachelor’s of applied science degree. She is employed with the Oxford Surgery Center in Oxford. The prospective groom is the grandson of Luke Jr. and Orla Lee Johnson of Byhalia and the late Myrtle Hesslinek of Potts Camp. He is a graduate of Potts Camp High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He is a self-employed contractor with Mainstream Trucking. The wedding will be held at 2 p.m. on November 4, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Potts Camp with a reception to follow in the historic Greer House in Potts Camp. All family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Couple say vows in the Botanic Gardens Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bostick were recently married in the Botanic Gardens in Memphis, Tenn. with Rev. Eugene Brown performing the ceremony. Mr. Bostick’s father is the principal of Ashland High School. Mrs. Bostick is a student in the School of Law at the University of Memphis. Callicutt home setting for bridal shower honoring Miss Mollie Fant The adult ladies II Sunday school class of First Baptist Church, Holly Springs, honored Mollie Jo Fant with a bridal shower Sunday at the lovely home of Lynn and Warren Callicutt. The guest of honor and her mother, Mrs. Jean Fant, were presented corsages of fall mums with plaid ribbons. After a prayer by Sharon Williams, the guests were invited into the dining room for delicious hors d’ oeuvres and punch. The table was adorned with a centerpiece of festive fall mums and sunflowers. A beautiful view of the pool was enjoyed from the sunroom where the bride-to-be opened her many lovely gifts. Out-of-town guests were mother and grandmother of the groom, Mrs. Janet Goforth and Mrs. Beth Smith, Mrs. Joy Potts, and Mrs. Laura Melvin of Corinth, Mrs. Emily McCarty of Lincoln, Calif., Ms. Connie Flannigan of Terry and Miss Maggie Medders of Oxford. Birth Paris Symone’ Owens was born Oct. 6, 2006 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. Parents are Derrick Owens and Latrecia Moore. She weighed five pounds, 13 ounces and was welcomed home by her big brother, DeKeysheion. Little Paris’s grandparents are Brenda and Edgar Moore Jr. and Nell and Gabriel Owens. Great-grandparents are Fannie and Clinton Norman and Mattie and Edgar Moore, both of Red Banks, and Mrs. Gracie Turner of Holly Springs. Museuming Hamilton House on Christmas Tour The Hamilton House was built in 1838 and was the largest mansion in town. It is located at the end of Memphis Street. Museuming Jim Thomas serves as narrator for Van Dorn History Tour On December 20, 1862, the most important thing to ever happen here occurred -- Confederate General Earl Van Dorn’s raid on our town. He destroyed millions of dollars worth of northern supplies and prolonged the capture of Vicksburg six months. Melody Golding publishes book Melody Golding, photographer, has signed with The University Press of Mississippi to publish “Katrina: Mississippi Women Remember.” Report News:
