Holly Springs basketball team playing in jamboree Saturday By BARRY BURLESON Basketball fans of the Holly Springs High School Hawks can get a sneak preview of their team this Saturday, Oct. 21. Coach Naylond Hayes’ squad will play in the Baldwyn Jamboree. This is the first year the Mississippi High School Activities Association has allowed basketball teams to play a jamboree. Teams can play no more than four periods and no more than two periods against one opponent. Holly Springs will meet Baldwyn at 2:30 p.m. and then face New Hope at 3 p.m. There’s a field of nine boys teams and seven girls teams. The jamboree starts at 10 a.m. Admission is $4. Hayes, who faces some rebuilding this season, said the team he will put on the floor for the jamboree will be “a little small.” Two players are members of the Holly Springs High School football team. The Hawks won Class 3A state championships in 2004 and 2005 and finished as runner-up in 2006. The Hawks and Lady Hawks open the regular season Thursday, Nov. 2, at home against Coldwater. They then host Ashland on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Report News:
