Jr. high Patriots beat Colts

The Marshall Academy junior high football team downed district foe Lee (Clarksdale) 30-14 Thursday night at home.

The Patriots improved to 2-1 on the season. Next up is a trip to Delta Academy Thursday, Oct. 5.

Mt. Pleasant football teams earn victories

In front of a crowd of about 500, the Mt. Pleasant Lions youth football and cheerleading teams were victorious in many ways.

With the support of the parents, visitors, coaches, and sponsors, the children were all winners. The cheerleaders were on fire and very enthusiastic during the games showing their support and getting crowd participation that motivated our teams.

University of Mississippi students, alumni and friends look forward to a wide array of activities Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7, during Homecoming Weekend, planned around the theme “There’s No Place Like Home.”

Parks and recreation announces activities

The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department announces the following activities.

Women’s Aerobic and Pilates class is being given Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m.
Weight Watchers class on Tuesdays 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
Tap, jazz, ballet and hip-hop dance classes are given Monday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for ages 3 years old and up.
Tae-Kwon Do classes are Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for ages 4 and up.
A Tai Chi class is also being offered. A meeting is set for Thursday, Oct. 5, at 9:15 a.m.
Registration for adult men’s and women’s basketball is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last day to register is Friday, Oct. 13, at City Hall or the Multi-Purpose Building.
Registration is also underway for youth basketball.
