Mt. Pleasant football teams earn victories In front of a crowd of about 500, the Mt. Pleasant Lions youth football and cheerleading teams were victorious in many ways. With the support of the parents, visitors, coaches, and sponsors, the children were all winners. The cheerleaders were on fire and very enthusiastic during the games showing their support and getting crowd participation that motivated our teams. The peewee division, ages 7-9 years old, won Saturday, Sept. 30, against the Ashland Raiders with a score of 12-6. Watch out because they are 2-0. The Bantam division, ages 10-12 years old, rallied back after last week’s loss with a win this past Saturday against the Ashland Raiders with a score of 35-13. This win puts this division with a record of 1-1. The midget division, ages 13-16 years old, had a rematch against the Ashland Raiders on Saturday. The first game was called due to inclement weather on Saturday, Sept. 23. With a playing squad of 15, the Mt. Pleasant boys fought from both sides of the ball and held the Raiders to 12 points. This game puts them with a record of 0-1. The game was videotaped by WBII, Channel 20 from Ashland. It was televised on Channels 20 and 58 over the weekend. Mt. Pleasant will be celebrating homecoming this Saturday, October 7, with the first game starting at 10 a.m. This is the last home game; therefore, the teams are looking for a packed crowd this weekend. The opponent will be the Holly Springs Cowboys. The admission fee is a $2 donation, with children 6 and under free. The Mt. Pleasant Lions football team and cheerleaders are excited and would like the continued support of the community. Report News:
