ObituariesBobby Earl Black Bobby Earl Black, 70, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of Holly Springs, died at his home on Sept. 10, 2006. He attended school in Holly Springs. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery on Sept. 15. He leaves three children, Gregory Black of Washington, Robert Black of Florida and Victoria Andrews of Tennessee; a brother, Kenneth Black of Alabama; four sisters, Frances Trinder of Georgia, Brenda Johnson of Florida, Joy Banville of Florida, Margaret Black of Florida; and six grandchildren.
James Wick Farris, 83, of Red Banks, died Sept. 20, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Eleree Harpole Farris; owner of Farris Dental Laboratory; a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Scottish Rites and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Byhalia Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves two sons, Larry Farris of Nashville, Tenn., James C. Farris of Red Banks; and two grandchildren. Carrie Ann Gulledge Gatewood Carrie Ann Gulledge Gatewood, 84, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 16, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Curley Gatewood. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 22 at Hudsonville CME Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Isom Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Wilson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves a daughter, Joyce Trask of Holly Springs; a son, LaFayette Gatewood of Holly Springs; three sisters, Louise Reynolds of Youngstown, Ohio, Shirley Jamison of Chicago, Ill., Gracie Mae Hughes of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Grady Gulledge of Detroit, Mich.; and a grandson. Pallbearers were family and friends. Vernon Goodman Vernon Goodman, 45, of Red Banks, died Sept. 17, 2006 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ, a factory worker at the Carrier Corp. in Collierville, Tenn. Services were held at 12 noon on Sept. 20 at Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Roy Lee Jeffries officiated. She leaves her niece and caregiver, Bettie Hill of Holly Springs. She was preceded in death by siblings, Velma Lester, Elizabeth Holloway, Doris Fitts, Ida Boyd, Elmo Lewis and L.D. Lewis. Ruth W. Murrell Ruth W. Murrell, 85, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 19, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of James Robert Murrell and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. She leaves her daughter, Jamie Lemons of Potts Camp; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Percy Edward Anderson and Raymond David Anderson. Jennifer Nichols Jennifer Nichols, 23, of Byhalia, died Sept. 18, 2006 at her home. She was a Baptist. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Nichols Family Cemetery in Potts Camp. She leaves her parents, Randy and Patricia Nichols of Cayce; three brothers, Derek Nichols of Holly Springs, Dustin Langston of Mt. Pleasant, Jamie Langston of Woodville and her grandparents, Leroy R. and Lillian Nichols of Potts Camp, Sandra Yancey of Cayce. She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis M. Nichols. Margaret Irene Prochilo Margaret (Chookie) Irene Prochilo, 52, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 19, 2006 at her home. She was a paramedic and a fireman. Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. She leaves three sons, Christopher Downey of Oxford, Joel Prochilo of Johnson City, Tenn., Benjamin Lackie of Conway, Ark.; a daughter, Jennifer Lackie of Conway; a stepdaughter, Brooklyn Burnett of Forth Smith, Ark.; her father, Vincent Prochilo of Oxford; a brother, David Prochilo of Merrick, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Diana Jordan of Vernon, Az.; a grandson and her fiance’, Kenneth Palmer of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Billie Fay Prochilo. Fannie Mae Walls Fannie Mae Walls, 93, of Holly Springs, died September 19, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Byhalia. She was a former member of Original Church of God in Booker Ridge, Tenn. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where she was a member. Vess Lee Whitelow, 53, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Cayce, died Sept. 18, 2006 at Delta Medical Center in Memphis. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a production worker with Carrier Corporation in Collierville, Tenn. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church, where he was a member. She leaves her husband, Roy Wilbanks; a son, Austin Wilbanks; her mother and stepfather, Jan and Mike Anderson; father and stepmother, Johnny and Karen Herron; grandmother, Dorothy Herron; great-grandmother, Mattie L. (Bill) Dixon; mother-in-law Margie Wilbanks and a very special friend, Jackie Weems. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Alfred Herron and J.N.
