Crane, Autry receive firefighter recognition By SUE WATSON Holly Springs career firefighter Rodney Crane and Tommy Autry, chief of Wyatt/Chulahoma Fire Department, were spotlighted by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce Thursday for outstanding service with their departments. Fish fry to benefit Childers family A benefit fish fry will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at First Baptist Church of Potts Camp to benefit Keith, Toya, Andrew and baby Bailey Childers. Bailey arrived Aug. 20, 2006, 14 weeks premature, and weighed only two pounds, four ounces. Due to low birth weight and medical complications, Bailey must remain in the North MS medical center in Tupelo for possibly two more months. Everyone is invited to come out to show support to the Childers family and enjoy good food and fellowship. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and will consist of fish, fries, slaw, hushpuppies and homemade desserts. All donations appreciated. Marshall County leadership committee organizes for 2007 class; apply now The Steering Committee for the Marshall County Leadership Program met at Annie’s Restaurant in Holly Springs Wednesday, Sept. 13, to make plans for next year’s class. Commons takes shape; hospital to anchor next phase By BARRY BURLESON A mission of developers Lance Forsdick and Kenneth Farrell is large projects in small towns. The representatives of Kenlan Development and the Kenneth Farrell Co., respectively, were guest speakers at a meeting last week of the Holly Springs Rotary Club. They focused on one of their many projects, the new Holly Springs Commons. Alliance Charitable Foundation announces September 27 meeting Alliance Charitable Foundation of Marshall County will hold its first annual meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority, 520 J.M. Ash Drive in Holly Springs. The health theme for the meeting will be Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. It is estimated that nearly 500 households in Marshall County are living with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the 10th cause of death in the county. Professional and family caregivers are encouraged to attend. The topic- Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia: Separating Facts from Fiction will also include research updates and successful techniques for managing difficult behaviors.
