Twenty-three Keenagers, from Carey Chapel Baptist Church, enjoyed a covered dish luncheon on September 5. Everyone brought their favorite dish and all had lots to eat.

Mrs. Lloyd Kimery celebrates 90th

Mrs. Lloyd Kimery celebrated her 90th birthday at Flick’s Place on Monday with all her children.

Fenton Wicker brought his 97-year-old mother, Willie Thomas Wicker, to Flick’s Place on Monday to celebrate her birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Warren brought a group of people who had returned from an Alaskan cruise to Flick’s Place on Saturday night to celebrate the trip.

Rev. Don Newton has returned home after having recent surgery and is doing well. We are thankful!

Recent guests of Joel and Joyce Clayton were his cousins, Owen Jones and wife Gale of Denison, Tx.

We send our love and sympathy to the family of J.L. Elliott of Hickory Flat, age 83, in his recent death.

Marshall County Retired Teachers to meet October 6

National Grandparents Day was observed Sunday, Sept. 10, 10:45 a.m. Devotion was led by the deacons. Welcome and occasion were given by Sis. Mamie Byers. Music was provided by the choir. Many grandparents were recognized. Sis. Rethie Ann Reliford was named Grandparent of the Year. Pastor James delivered the sermon.

Sept. birthdays for Hopewell No. 1 members were: James DeBerry, 2; Alberta Kimmons, 3; Michael Crittle, 7; Patricia Lesure, 8; Donita Walton, 12; Mary Beard, 12; Ralph Waller, 13; Juliette, 17; Ina Jones, 18; and Desmond Lesure, 29.

Marshall County Retired Education Personnel will meet Friday, Oct. 6, 1 p.m. at Marshall County Library.

At this meeting it will be time to pay your local dues.
