SocietyCity Personals Birthday celebration honors Pat Shaw for the big 30! Sandra Alldrege hosted a gathering of former classmates at her home over the weekend. Those who attended were Ludis Reaves and Ann Busby of Olive Branch, Bonnie Smith of Batesville, Sheila Burnett of Charleston, and Shirley Jones of Covington, Tenn. These six have been friends since childhood and have carried on into adulthood. They enjoyed the time they spent with one another this weekend and look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come. Camille Shaw hosted a birthday party honoring her brother, Pat, on Saturday night at The Service Station. Party-goers enjoyed a variety of appetizers and libations. They danced the night away to music provided by Renegade. Local friends and family, as well as numerous guests from out-of-town, helped Pat ring in the big 3-0. A wonderful banner Camille had made said it all - “I demand a recount!” Happy birthday, Pat! Allen of Lamar are please to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, MaLaura Jane, to Charles Jonathan Woods, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon L. Woods of Red Banks. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buris of Memphis and Mrs. Martha L. Allen of Lamar and the late Rudell L. Allen. She is a 2004 graduate of Hickory Flat Attendance Center and is currently attending Northwest MS Community College where she is majoring in elementary education. The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Briscoe of Red Banks and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger L. Woods of Holly Springs. He is a 2003 graduate of Marshall Academy and is employed with Jon Woods Construction, Inc. The couple will be united in marriage on Sept. 23, 2006 at 5 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jon L. Woods. After a honeymoon in Florida, the couple will make their home in Red Banks. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Beckham Nicole Flaherty and Trey Hill to wed in September 29 ceremony at Sherman Baptist Church Art Flaherty of Pontotoc and Celisa Russell of Sherman are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Flaherty, to Trey Hill, son of Donny and Susie Hill of Potts Camp. Nicole is the great-granddaughter of Ora Welch of Sherman. Her grandparents are Harold and Betty Duke of Sherman, Charlotte Flaherty of Ecru and Jimmy Flaherty of Amory. The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of North Pontotoc Attendance Center. She also graduated from Northeast Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in 2005. Trey is the grandson of Jimmy and Beth Hill of Ripley and the late Fred and Jimmie Clayton of Potts Camp. The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Potts Camp High School and was salutatorian of his class. He also attended Northeast from 2002-04. Nicole and Trey are both furthering their education at the University of Mississippi. The couple will exchange vows on September 29, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Sherman Baptist Church, in Sherman. All family and friends are invited to attend. Alisa Branner and Ju’Juan Austin will exchange vows September 23 at New Mt. Gillian MB Church Joe and Shirley Blair of Knoxville, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Alisa C. Branner of Knoxville, to Ju’Juan M. Austin of Byhalia. Alisa is the granddaughter of the late James and Reba P. Dotson. She has a BSN from TN State University (Nashville), attended high school at Austin-East in Knoxville, attended Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, and attended Teacher Training Academy in San Fernando Valley, Calif. Ju’Juan is the son of T.H. and Lizzie Austin of Byhalia and the grandson of Laura Raiford and the late Sherman Raiford of Byhalia. He attended Byhalia High School, Northwest College in Senatobia and International Barber College in Nashville. The couple will wed 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 at New Mt. Gillian MB Church, Stonewall Road, Byhalia. A reception will immediately follow. All family and friends are cordially invited. Kimberly Stewart to wed Antonio Sholar September 16 at St. Andrew AME Church Narcissie Benson of Byhalia and Lenell Stewart Sr. of Chulahoma would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Kimberly A.
