Mr. and Mrs. Joe Overstreet hosted a beautiful engagement party for their son, Matthew, and his fiancee, Emily Stables, on Saturday evening at their home, Airliewood. The side lawn had a very New Orleans Garden District feel to it - plush landscape, gorgeous tiered fountain and a phenomenal Motown band, who began the evening with a light set of jazz and continued into the night with everyone’s Motown favorites. The tables were draped with light green silk tablecloths and centered with magenta roses arranged in silver mint julep cups. The crowd was treated to the wonderful catering of Maia Miller and Diane Greer. The elegantly decorated dining room table was surrounded by everything from baked brie with mango chutney to beef tenderloin with bernaise butter. Out-of-town guests included the bride’s parents, Tom and Diane Stables of Houston, Texas, and friends, Christy and Pete Rose of Dallas, Texas. Anne Keiffer and Will Carson of Memphis, Tenn., and Jack and Henry Green of Washington, DC, were the weekend guests of their grandparents, Bea and Jimmye Dale Green.
