Youth football registration open; meeting Thursday The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is registering youth who want to participate in flag football for boys and girls ages 7-10. There will be a meeting concerning youth flag football on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m. at the Eddie L. Smith Jr. Multi-Purpose Building, located at 235 North Memphis Street. Tennis tournament in Corinth to benefit Katrina victims The 15th Annual Sundown Summer Classic tennis tournament will be held September 19-24 in Corinth with proceeds going to Gulf Coast Katrina victims. Jr. high Patriots win three games in jamboree The Marshall Academy junior high Patriots had a successful jamboree Thursday of last week at Delta Academy. They knocked off Clarksdale Lee twice, 6-0 and 18-0 (a B-team game), and also defeated Lee (Marianna, Ark.) 12-6. “I’m real proud of the junior high players,” said head football coach Wade Griffin. The MA junior high squad hosts Magnolia Heights this Thursday night, Aug. 31, at Patriot Field.
