Planning board approves various permits The Marshall County Planning Commission board took up 15 items on the August agenda. The board approved a request from a couple living in Holiday Estates Subdivision to build a detached five-car garage with living quarters on their two-acre property. The lot is zoned Residential-Estates. A St. Paul Road couple requesting a special exception to place a single-wide mobile home (second dwelling) on the lot for an ill sister was approved. The board approved a request from a Victoria resident to operate a four-wheeler park on property at 82 Victoria Road. The owner of a wrecker service was given a permit to store up to 15 vehicles on property at 2021 St. Paul Road, with provisions the vehicles will be stored for 30 days. The property is zoned Commercial-1. A Gordan Lakes Farms Subdivision lot owner asked to place a fourth mobile home on a 6.9-acre lot to be used as a living quarters for a parent. The board approved the measure with condition that a vacant mobile home be removed within 90 days. The property is zoned R-2. A Woods Road resident asked for permission to hook up utilities to a utility trailer for a temporary living quarters. The board authorized the resident to live in the quarters for 6 months. The property is zoned agricultural-residential. A building permit was approved for a couple owning property on Wildwood Road. The board denied a permit to Curtis Harden to hold a four-wheeler race on property owned by Robert Tennial located on Highway 309 North. Harden said he wanted to hold the event as a fund-raiser for H.W. Byers’ athletics club. Zoning denied the permit citing complaints about loud music and language at prior events on the property. The board denied a request from a property owner to construct a duplex on a 2.04-acre lot in Cayce Acres Subdivision. The owner already has a mobile home on the lot and asked for the duplex to provide a separate living quarters for his mother and a rental apartment. The property is zoned R-2. A final plat was approved for Twin Pines Subdivision on Highway 311 and for a final plat for East Roper Plantation on Deer Creek Road. The board approved a request to provide temporary utility service for two travel trailers on a lot at Spring Creek Farms Subdivision. The trailers will be leased for the hunting season. The 11.5-acre property is zoned Agricultural.
