SUE WATSON Tax Assessor Ronnie Johnson announced this week that aerial satellite photographs and land maps of parcels in Marshall County are available for view and print-out at the Industrial Development Authority’s website www.marshallcoms.com. SUE WATSON The Holly Springs Board of Aldermen passed a resolution during the first week of August board meeting to issue $2.6 million in bonds to construct an electric power substation at Mt. Pleasant. The substation will improve capacity to the northern and western portions of Marshall County. Other public works projects were also notched forward at the meeting, including financing of $1.5 million toward a police station, the design of a gas project to follow a Phase I water project that extends service from up Highway 78 to Victoria, over to Lee’s Crossing and back to Holly Springs; and $1.3 million in financing of a water and sewer project to extend services to a proposed new hospital and clinic. Other actions taken by the board at the meeting included:
Benefit planned for Morgan Shaw in Olive Branch Saturday A benefit for the Morgan Shaw family will be held on Aug. 12 at the Olive Branch Shrine Building, Goodman Ave., in Olive Branch. Carry out or eat-in lunch begins at 12 noon, $10 donations are suggested per plate -- fish fillets, catfish and barbecue. All-you-can-eat dinner, dine in, begins at 5 p.m., A donation of $15 per person, $25 per couple is suggested for the plates and entertainment -- fish fillets, catfish and barbecue. There will be a live band. Some of the items donated for the auction include guns, horse feed, autographed Ole Miss items, collector’s knife, Stihl weed eater, tools, Suzuki, child’s dirt bike and more!
