Lady Patriots set high goals By BARRY BURLESON The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots broke new ground in 2005 and they hope to dig a little deeper this season. Tournament to benefit Shaw family A benefit softball tournament for Morgan Shaw and her family will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, on the Town of Potts Camp fields. “The dates could expand, depending on the amount of interest,” said Kevin Harris, one of the coordinators of the tournament, along with Steve Henderson. “We are all very concerned for Morgan and the Shaw family and we want to help as much as we can with their medical expenses.” Morgan Shaw, age 6, is a student at Mary Reid School in Potts Camp. The tournament is open to adult teams – men’s, women’s and co-ed. Entry fee is $150 per team. Harris and Henderson are also looking for volunteers to assist with umpiring, preparing the fields and concessions. All proceeds from the tournament will go the Shaw family. “We all want to work and do what we can,” Harris said. “We want everyone to come and have fun and fellowship and play the games for a good cause.” To enter a team or for more information on the tournament, call Henderson at 252-1491 (work), 544-2898 (cell) or 333-7076 (home).
