Pruitt’s bond hearing put on hold By SUE WATSON Michael Wallace Pruitt appeared in circuit court in Oxford before Judge Andrew Howorth Thursday and temporarily waived right to a bail bond hearing. Pruitt is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and sexual battery of a 6-year-old girl from the Laws Hill community of Marshall County that took place a week and a half ago. Employment office to move By SUE WATSON Beginning August 10, Marshall County residents will go to the Information Technology Center, at 1180 Old Highway 311, to file applications for unemployment benefits and for jobs, according to Bobbye Oliver with the Mississippi Employment Services Win Job Center in Hernando. waste hearing By SUE WATSON A crowd of about 44 people attended a public hearing at the courthouse Monday with many going on record in opposition to a solid waste management plan proposed by the Solid Waste Authority of Marshall County. Night Out kickoff successful By SUE WATSON A crowd of about 200 turned out Friday evening to help kick off National Night Out activities in Holly Springs with a picnic at Spring Hollow Park. The event included entertainment, food, and a variety of games for children, fire engines, a medical helicopter, and patrol cars. It encourages individuals to get to know their law enforcement personnel in both the city and county and their neighbors as a means of thwarting crime. The community celebrated National Night Out Tuesday, August 1, with a parade of police and sheriff’s department vehicles, firefighting vehicles, ambulances and other equipment driven by those dedicated to serving and protecting the community.
