Employment office to move By SUE WATSON Beginning August 10, Marshall County residents will go to the Information Technology Center, at 1180 Old Highway 311, to file applications for unemployment benefits and for jobs, according to Bobbye Oliver with the Mississippi Employment Services Win Job Center in Hernando. The last day offices will be open at the Marshall County Office Building (Old Hospital) on East College Street is Thursday, August 3. The WIN Center telephone number will also change to 1-662-252-1488 on August 10. Office hours are Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m., Oliver said. Other services provided by Rust College Community Development Corporation and Northwest Community College are already available at the IT Center on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Rust College offers help with resume preparation and job searches under the Workforce Investment Act, according to Betty Yates with the college. And Northwest Community College offers assistance with resume preparation and provides instruction on how to search for jobs. To inquire about those services a Rust College or NWCC representative can also be reached at the IT Center number, 1-662-252-1488. Ken Robinson, IT coordinator with the City of Holly Springs, said having as many of these services available at one place will make it convenient for individuals who are preparing to enter the workforce, looking for jobs or applying for benefits. The IT Center will serve temporarily as a point of distribution of these services until more space becomes available, he said. Yates added that Rust College CDC is trying to get the numbers up of people requesting help with resume preparation and job searches with the hope that the Mississippi Department of Employment Security will open a full-time office in Marshall County.
