Open house set on proposed power line The Tennessee Valley Authority will hold an open house to take public comment on a proposed route and two alternate routes for a power line that will connect existing power lines to a new substation planned for the Mt. Pleasant area. The substation will be built by the Holly Springs Electric Department. The open house is set for 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 27, at H.W. Byers School located at 4178 Highway 72. The school is located a few miles east of the intersection of Highway 72 and Highway 311. The new substation will increase the capacity to deliver electricity and maintain reliable service and to meet new power demand due to growth in the Holly Springs Electric Department’s service areas. TVA is proposing to build between 4.5 miles and 5.5 miles of new 161-kilovolt transmission line on a 100-foot-wide right-of-way. The line would extend from an existing TVA transmission line to the proposed substation, to be built east of Highway 311, about 1.5 miles south of the intersection to Highway 72. Maps and information concerning the project and the alternate routes for the line will be available for view at the open house and TVA representatives will be available to give information and answer questions about the project. Large maps will show where the alternative transmission line routes are located. TVA is requesting public comment on the potential of the proposed action to affect the environment and/or historic properties and to identify any other issues associated with this proposal. The comments will be used in reaching a decision on location of the project. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting but has questions or comments is asked to contact Allen Miller. All written comments on this proposed action should be sent to to TVA, Attention: W. Allen Miller, 1101 Market Street (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801, no later than August 28, 2006. Report News:
