Mississippi College scholarship established to honor Geraldine Gholson

Gerald and Patricia Hasselman recently established an endowed scholarship at Mississippi College in honor of Gerald Hasselman’s mother. Dr. Hasselman is an associate professor and director of educational leadership at MC.

The Geraldine Johnson Gholson Endowed Nursing Scholarship recognizes Mrs. Gholson’s nursing career which spanned almost 60 years.

The scholarship will be awarded annually with preference given to a student from Holly Springs, or a graduate of Oxford High School.

The Hasselmans are both natives of Holly Springs and graduates of Holly Springs High School. Gerald Hasselman is the former principal of Oxford High School and Patricia Hasselman taught at Oxford Junior High School.

The following names were inadvertently omitted from the Mary Reid School honor roll for the second nine weeks published in last week’s edition.

K-B, Mrs. Wilkerson, Principal’s List – Brandon Turnage and Ashley Anderson.
