City narrowing choices for key positions By SUE WATSON The Holly Springs board of alderman and mayor are set to meet to discuss the hiring of a new police chief and general manager at the utility department. Task Force rounds up suspects By SUE WATSON Twenty-seven suspects, with outstanding warrants for arrest stemming from Marshall County Grand Jury indictments or on violation of probation charges from the Mississippi Department of Corrections, were arrested and charged during a July 7 roundup, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. Another 25 suspects are still being sought, he said. City police investigate larcenies, break-in The Holly Springs Police Department reports incidents for the past week which include three larcenies and one break-in of a commercial building. A larceny was reported in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Drive July 10. The victim reported a stolen blue and black electric guitar with a brown shaft valued at $200. A larceny in the 300 block of Memphis Street was also reported July 10. The victim reported a black, walk-behind lawn mower valued at $150 taken from the residence. A Generac generator, model 755, valued at $1,600, was reported taken from a company vehicle July 13. The larceny took place in the 100 block of Clarice Drive. A break-in of a business in the 100 block of South Center Street was reported July 15. Officers responding to an alarm call found a cinder block had been thrown through the window of the business. The owner was not sure if anything was missing. Alliance sets free workshop for moms-to-be Alliance Charitable Foundation will host a free workshop for expectant mothers at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building on Wednesday, July 26. Three sessions will cover things expectant mothers need to know prior to birth, at birth and during the baby’s first year of life. Baby product displays will be at the workshop and all expectant mothers will be given a free baby gift bag containing things mothers need when the baby comes. Dads are invited. Continental breakfast and registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Space is limited, advanced registration preferred. While day-of-the-event registrations are accepted, without advanced registration, free baby gift bags cannot be guaranteed.
