Police department sponsoring National Night Out Kick-Off

The Holly Springs Police Department announces its National Night Out Kick-Off Friday, July 28, from 6 until 9 p.m.

This year’s festivities will be held at Spring Hollow Walking Trail (behind the Multi-Purpose Building).

There will be fun, food, games, prizes and entertainment.

Those attending should bring their lawn chairs.

City school board meeting rescheduled for July 18

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Holly Springs School District, usually held on the second Tuesday of each month, has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 18.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Holly Springs High School Library, 165 North Walthall Street, Holly Springs.

Pre-registration dates set for new county district students

The Marshall County School District will conduct a pre-registration at all school sites during the week of July 24-28 and on Monday, July 31.

This pre-registration is for kindergarten and new students only.

No students will be allowed to pre-register at the school sites from August 1-4. Pre-registration for kindergarten and new students will resume on Monday, Aug. 7.

Students who were enrolled the previous year will not participate in this pre-registration. Informational packets for updating information will be sent home with previous enrollees during the first week of school.

When registering new students, parents must present two proofs of residency, report card from last school the student attended, proof of immunization and a copy of the student’s birth certificate. A Post Office box is not considered a proof of residency.

Marshall County Schools will be first to resume classes

Students in the Marshall County School District just have three more weeks of summer vacation.

The first day of school for county schools is Thursday, Aug. 3.

Students in the Holly Springs School District will have a few more days off. They will go back to classes on Monday, Aug. 7.

Marshall Academy students begin the 2006-07 school year on Thursday, Aug. 17. They will go half-a-day on August 17 and 18. The first full day of school is Monday, Aug. 21.

Students at Holy Family School will go back to classes on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Spring break for schools is March 12-16, 2007.
