Youth fishing rodeo set for Saturday

The 2006 Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday, June 24, at the Sardis Lower Lake-Cypress Point Area.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the fishing rodeo will start at 7:30 a.m.

Age classes are 1-5 years old, 6-10 years old, and 11-15 years old. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for each age class.

MA hosting baseball tournament

Marshall Academy will host an invitational high school baseball tournament this weekend, Friday through Sunday, June 23-25.

Eight teams will participate, including MA, Hernando, Delta, Carroll, Clarksdale, Kirk, Rossville and Southaven.

Games will be played all day Friday and Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

The schedule includes:

Friday – 10 a.m., Rossville vs. Southaven; 12 noon, Kirk vs. Clarksdale; 2 p.m., Carroll vs. Delta; 4 p.m., MA vs. Delta; 6 p.m., Carroll vs. Hernando; 8 p.m. MA vs. Hernando.
Saturday – 10 a.m., Delta vs. Hernando; 12 noon, Kirk vs. Southaven; 2 p.m., Kirk vs. Rossville; 4 p.m., Carroll vs. MA; 6 p.m., Clarksdale vs. Rossville; 8 p.m., Southaven vs. Clarksdale.
The top four teams from pool play will advance to Sunday’s final games, which start at 2 p.m.

Everyone is urged to come out and support the summer tournament.
