Brook Hale to serve as summer missionary in Canada Brook Hale is one of 133 university and college students who Mississippi Baptist Student Union is helping to send as a summer missionary to Canada. Brook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Hale of Potts Camp, is a student at Blue Mountain College. Each of the 133 students will have either all or a significant portion of their expenses paid by fellow students during their term of service. The Mississippi Baptist Student Union raises funds for summer missions primarily by donations from students involved in 32 BSU programs on campuses across the state. This year’s budget exceeds $160,000. Most students serve an eight to ten-week term alongside career missionaries in positions which are International Mission Board or North American Mission Board related. Fifty-one students will serve internationally, and eighty-two will work in twenty-three states and Canada. Baptist Student Union is sponsored by the Collegiate Ministry Department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board and is made possible by the Cooperative Program, which is a volunteer giving plan of more than 2,000 Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi.
