EducationByhalia students tour Concorde Career Institute Special populations coordinator for Marshall County Schools Ann Endicott received a state vocational grant to promote and inform students about nontraditional education and careers. Students from Byhalia High School toured Concorde Career Institute in Memphis, Tenn., and learned about medical field careers. The students are members in the vocational organization Family, Community, Career Leaders of America (FCCLA). Students received information on the types and lengths of the programs offered at Concorde and took a tour of the classrooms. Joe Birch visits H.W. Byers Joe Birch, anchorman for WMC-TV Channel 5 News, Memphis, was the guest speaker for a special assembly on April 12 at H.W. Byers Elementary School. Mr. Birch was invited by the principal, Dixie Pye. He began with stories about his life as a child. The students listened attentively as he talked about how he became a newscaster. Mr. Birch concluded his presentation with five steps on becoming successful in life. The students were very excited to see and hear a television personality. Cecelia Robinson, a student, presented Mr. Birch with an H.W. Byers T-shirt. The shirt was shown on the 5 p.m. newscast that evening. Betty Spight and Lillian Campbell honored for outstanding job preformance Each month, Holly Springs Primary School chooses a teacher and a teacher assistant who has shown outstanding job performance. Every teacher at Holly Springs Primary School does an outstanding job and their hard work is appreciated. For the month of May, Betty Spight has been chosen as the teacher of the month. Mrs. Spight is a pre-kindergarten teacher at Holly Springs Primary School. She has been employed with Holly Springs Primary for six years. Mrs. Spight received a $25 gift certificate and her own parking space for the month. The teacher assistant of the month is Lillian Campbell. Mrs. Campbell is a pre-kindergarten teacher assistant. She has been a pre-k teacher assistant for three years. Mrs. Campbell recieved $20 for her exemplary job performance. Hats off to Mrs. Spight and Mrs. Campbell. Report News:
