Wrapping up 2005
The headlines for the second half of 2005 were just as plentiful and varied as January-June.
Here’s a quick look back at a few from July-December, which wraps up the year-in-review.
A Christmas present mistake?
One of the things that Santa Claus brought to my youngest granddaughter was a loom.
“I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid”
It happened again last Friday. Someone came to my door and I was in the shower! It seems inevitable that no matter when I choose to take a bath, someone comes a-knocking at my door. The convergence of visitors arriving and my efforts at cleanliness seem to be hideously coordinated. Hence, I never have any company!
Letters to the Editor
The future of the cemetery:
One of the things that I make a point of doing when I come home to visit in Holly Springs — aside from the obvious time spent with family and friends — is to walk in Hill Crest Cemetery. I make the requisite visit to family and ancestors, stop by “Our Charlie,” and gaze in awe at the magnificent old cedars, hickories, oaks, hollies, and magnolias.
