• SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, 126 W. Van Dorn, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.

• NO SINGING New Hope Baptist Church, Hwy 72, Slayden, will not have their regular monthly singing Jan. 14, due to Watch Night service on Dec. 31.

• MEETING The Marshall County Republican Club monthly meeting will be held on Jan. 14. Elections for the board of directors for 2006 will take place at this meeting. The meeting will be held at North Central Power Co. in Byhalia at 10 a.m. Light snacks and coffee will be served. The public is invited to attend.

• FOOTBALL BANQUET The Holly Springs Cowboys, a youth football organization, will host their second annual football and cheerleading banquet at Dreamland this Saturday at 6 p.m. All players, coaches, parents, and friends are invited to attend. • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be open at 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.

January 19

• 4-H MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library at 6 p.m. New members welcome.

• MIDWEEK SERVICE Mt. Moriah MB Church, 3193 Marianna Rd., Thurs., Jan. 19, 7 p.m. Rev. Glenn Johnson of Isom Chapel will be the guest speaker.

• PTA MEETING H.W. Byers monthly PTA meeting will be Thurs., Jan. 19, 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to come out.

• PRIVATE APPLICATOR TRAINING The Marshall County Extension Service will offer a Private Applicator Training on Wed., Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the Extension office, 810 Highway 178 East, Holly Springs. This training is for farmers and is not intended as training for commercial applicators. Producers wishing to become certified or re-certified, or need additional information, are asked to call the Marshall County Extension Service at 662-252-3541 prior to the training date.

• MEETING Marshall County Retired Education Personnel will meet Fri., Feb. 10, 1 p.m. at the Marshall County Library. That will be Honors Day.
