Personals Betty Bennett celebrates 58th birthday Betty Bennett celebrated her 58th birthday at Baptist Memphis Hospital on Tuesday, May 2. Betty has been in the hospital since April 6 when she had spinal cord surgery. Her birthday was celebrated by Joan Turbe and Vickie Miller who came up on Saturday from Waveland, and Pam Hurdle and Becky Harris who came up on Sunday. Betty was visited on her birthday by Dolly White, Beth McCrosky, Jean Gurley, Vickie Sweet, and Chuck Bennett. A birthday party was thrown in the hospital room by some of her closest friends, including Brenda Luther, Becky Ritter, Jerri Hendrix, Jean Doxey, Barbara Taylor and Lynn Hogan. Betty was moved to the Baptist Rehabilitation Hospital in Germantown on May 3 where she is likely to spend the next six to seven weeks recuperating with physical therapy before returning home. Please keep her in your prayers. Charlie Douglas and children, Caroline and Chandler, of Starkville, were the weekend guests of his parents, Leigh and Dick Douglas. While they were here, they also visited with other friends and family. Anna Owens is recovering well after an automobile accident Friday morning on her way to school. Well wishes go out to both Anna and her family on getting well quickly! Billy Cupp Jr., spent a wonderful few days in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week. He met up with long time friend, Alex McCrosky, formerly of Holly Springs. The men were anxious to see the Oscar De La Hoya and Ricardo Mayorga boxing match, which was held at the MGM Grand in Vegas. De La Hoya was coming off of an 18+ month leave from the boxing ring. The much anticipated and highly publicized fight was the highlight of Billy’s trip. De La Hoya took the fight with a TKO, capturing the WBC super welterweight belt, proving once again that he is truly the “Golden Boy” of boxing. The annual banker’s convention was held at the Sandestin Resort in Florida last week. Among those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Seale, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carrington, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Gresham, Steve Gresham, Frances Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Todd Talley, Mr. and Mrs. Jakey Hurdle, Mr. and Mrs. Shep Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Bonds, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crain and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crell. Sabrina Barry and Josh Mensi to wed on May 20 at Slayden Baptist Church Sabrina is the daughter of Danny and Penny Barry of Slayden. She is a 2005 graduate of H.W. Byers. She is attending classes at Northwest Community College in Southaven. She is currently employed at Christian Kids Kindercare in Germantown, Tenn. Josh is the son of David and Sharon Mensi of Michigan City. He is a 2001 graduate of Falkner High School. He is also a 2004 graduate of Northeast Community College. He is currently employed with Industrial Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. The ceremony will take place on May 20 at 2 p.m. The ceremony and reception will be held at Slayden Baptist Church in Slayden. All family and friends are invited to join us!
Alicia Moore and Justin Wade to wed Saturday at First Evangelical Church Mr. and Mrs. Brady Edward Moore, of Southaven announce the engagement of their daughter, Alicia Rhea Moore of Southaven, to Justin Wade Dennis of Olive Branch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dennis of Olive Branch. The wedding will be at 5 p.m. May 13 at First Evangelical Church in Memphis, Tenn. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wade Moore of Southaven, Patricia Stacks of Memphis, and the late Minor Ray Stacks of Memphis, Tenn. She is a 1999 graduate of Olive Branch High School and attended Mississippi State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She is employed by Medtronic. The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dennis of Bartlett, Tenn., Mildred Davis of Red Banks, and the late Don Davis. He is a 2000 graduate of Olive Branch High School and attended Mississippi State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in construction management/land development. He is employed by Sherwin-Williams. Tamekia McNeil to wed Kevin Jeffries at the Shrine Building in Holly Springs Gloria McNeil of Waterford announces the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Tamekia McNeil of Waterford to Kevin Jeffries, also of Waterford. He is the son of Lela Jeffries and Maurine Martin of Waterford. Tamekia is the granddaughter of Marble McNeil of Lake Center and the late Eugene Collins. She is a 1999 graduate of Potts Camp High School and a 2002 graduate of NWCC with an LPN degree. She is employed with Oncall Travel Nursing Staff. Kevin is a 1998 graduate of Potts Camp High School. He is employed with Bauhous USA. The wedding will be held at 4 p.m. on May 27, 2006 at the Shrine Building in Holly Springs. All family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Christina Chandler and John Cook will exchange vows May 20 at Spring Hill Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Chandler of Waterford are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Renee Chandler to John Matthew Cook, son of Rev. and Mrs. Robert Joe Cook of Holly Springs. The couple will exchange vows May 20, 2006 at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Waterford. After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple will make their home in Olive Branch. Report News:
