Andrea Joyce, a 10th grade student at Potts Camp School, has been selected to represent Potts Camp at the Mississippi Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference in June at Millsaps College. During the conference, students will interact with business, educational, and government leaders from across the state. Students will also be eligible for scholarships. Andrea’s guardians are Damon and April Blevins of Potts Camp.

Scholarship
Carole Lee Webb, senior at the University of Mississippi, has been awarded a scholarship to study abroad this summer. Carole is majoring in hospitality management at Ole Miss and will study in London during July and August. The three-hour for credit course is “British Food and Hospitality.” She is the daughter of Betty Carole Pearson of Oxford and Walter Webb of Holly Springs and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. S. W. Pearson Jr., of Louisville.

Counselors attend convention
All of Marshall County School District’s counselors attended the annual convention in Tunica on April 10, 11 and 12. The convention usually meets in the fall in Biloxi but had been postponed due to Hurricane Katrina. The theme was appropriately named “Hope for the Future.” Dr. William Glasser, a renowned author and psychiatrist, was the keynote speaker and also held several workshops during the meeting times. Many other workshops were held on a variety of topics by professors at all the Mississippi universities that have a counseling program. Out of 1,000 counselors who are members of the Mississippi Counseling Association, over 850 were in attendance at this conference.
