Athletes
advance to North Half
• Potts Camp boys finish second
in Region 1-2A

Potts Camp High School’s male
and female teams finished second and third, respectively, in overall rankings
from the Region 1-2A Track Meet.
The Potts Camp boys racked up 115 points,
trailing first-place Okolona which amassed 147. Finishing third and fourth,
respectively, were Calhoun City and Coldwater.
The Potts Camp girls tallied 76 points,
behind first-place Coldwater with 138 and second place Calhoun City with
80. Taking fourth was Mantachie with 71 points.
Eleven schools competed in boys’
competition in Region 1-2A and 10 in girls.
Several Cardinals and Lady Cardinals, along
with some athletes from both H.W. Byers and Ashland, will move on to the
North Half Meet Saturday, April 29, in Tupelo. The top four in each event
advance.
Boys
- 100 Meter Dash - second, Chris Wilson, H.W. Byers, 11.50; third,
Fredrick Jones, H.W. Byers, 11.57; fourth, Brian Martin, Potts Camp,
11.65.
- 200 Meter Dash - first, Chris Wilson, H.W. Byers, 23.15; second,
Fredrick Jones, H.W. Byers, 23.25; third, Brian Martin, Potts Camp,
23.50; fourth, Clyde Hubbard, Potts Camp, 23.77.
- 800 Meter Run - first, Marvin Rayford, H.W. Byers, 2:14.
- 1600 Meter Run - first, Charlie Smith, Potts Camp, 5:11; third, Billy
Mitchell, Potts Camp, 5:16.
- 3200 Meter Run - first, Charlie Smith, Potts Camp, 11:07.84; third,
Billy Mitchell, Potts Camp, 13:04.12.
- 110 Meter Hurdles - fourth, Justin Smith, Potts Camp, 18.43.
- 300 Meter Hurdles - fourth, Michael Whaley, Potts Camp, 57.08.
- 4x100 Meter Relay - fourth, H.W. Byers, 46.93.
- 4x200 Meter Relay - third, Potts Camp, 1:37.34.
- 4x400 Meter Relay - third, H.W. Byers, 3:59.
- Long Jump - second, Brian Martin, Potts Camp, 21-03.
- Triple Jump - fourth, Michael Whaley, Potts Camp, 36-00.
Girls
- 200 Meter Dash - third, Shantae Sharp, Potts Camp, 27.12.
- 400 Meter Dash - first, Shantae Sharp, Potts Camp, 1:04.76.
- 800 Meter Dash - second, Amanda Barstow, Potts Camp, 2:55; third,
Gracey Morgan, Ashland, 2:57.
- 1600 Meter Run - second, Amanda Barstow, Potts Camp, 6:27; third,

- 3200 Meter Run - third, Amanda Barstow, Potts Camp, 14:34.78.
