FeaturesMarshall CountyHumane Society News Plans underway for annual Pancake Breakfast during Pilgrimage The Marshall County Humane Society is gearing up for our annual Pancake Breakfast during Pilgrimage weekend. Tickets are $5 for all you can eat pancakes and sausage with all the fixings. The do will be on Saturday, April 22, from 7-10 a.m. at the VFW next to Cousins Shell in Holly Springs. All the proceeds will be used to help needy animals in our area. Our recent meeting was full of enthusiasm for the progress on our Adoption Center. Bill Janssen, coowner with his wife Sherry, our president, of the Rental Barn, praised the quality of the design and construction and predicted that when were through people will come from all over to get ideas for their own projects. He ought to know since hes put in many hours making it so. We started discussing making a sign for the Center and realized we dont have an official name for it. Since we want to involve the community as much as possible we've decided to make it a contest open to one and all. Hopefully well have all the details available next week, but, in the meantime, put on your thinking caps and help us come up with a name worthy of our place. The pigs rescued by Sheriffs order from Benton County have found a new home at a rescue facility for hoofed animals in Ruth. Thanks, George, for making the long trip to deliver them safely. Darn, there goes our barbeque. (Just kidding.) Now is the time to take advantage of the Humane Society sponsored, low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic open every Tuesday in Holly Springs, so you don't find yourself with a yard full of kittens and puppies this summer. Appointments are a must so we dont wind up with fifty Great Pyrenees one week and one tom cat the next. Call 662-252-6196 to make yours and be sure to leave your phone number if you get the answering machine. If youve left a message and not gotten a call back, please try again. Several messages lately have been impossible to decipher due to a bad connection with a cell phone and, on one particular call, although the message was clear as a bell, the gentleman left me my own number. And there are always the cats who want to push all those little buttons they shouldnt. For information on adoptions, fostering or our Humane Society in general, call 662-564-2900. Correspondence and donations should be sent to the Marshall County Humane Society, P.O. Box 625, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
