Benefit planned to support the American Stroke Association Everyone is urged to help Nola Obergfell raise money for the American Stroke Association. You can help with the purchase of a smoked Boston butt for $25 each. This effort is sponsored by Flick’s and the Potts Camp Fire Department. Pre-order the Boston butts by calling 662-333-4111 or they will be available under the tent in front of Flick’s on Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8. Obergfell is helping the American Stroke Association celebrate Stroke Awareness by walking the Kona Hawaii Half Marathon on June 11. This will be her second half marathon for the American Stroke Association. In July of 1977, Obergfell became a stroke survivor. She spent the next year in rehabilitation learning to walk and talk again. She was given another chance. The opportunity of training to walk in a marathon for herself and in honor of other stroke victims is one way she can help them to be a stroke survivor, just as she is a survivor. All proceeds from the sale of the Boston butts will benefit the American Stroke Association. Stroke is the number three killer of Americans and one of the leading causes of disability, yet most people cannot name a single warning sign of an oncoming stroke. Knowing the symptoms can and does save lives –
