Local News BriefsHabitat for Humanity raising funds to build fifth home Marshall County Habitat for Humanity will host a spaghetti dinner on Thursday, April 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (eat-in or take-out). Dinner will be served at the Oak Palace, 580 Stewart St., in Holly Springs (north off east Van Dorn just past railroad bridge) and includes spaghetti, salad, bread and desserts. Tickets are $7 each. Marshall County Habitat for Humanity urges everyone to “help us build our fifth home.” Friends of Library yard sale, barbecue to be held April 6 The Friends of the Library will sponsor their annual fund-raiser on Thursday, April 6, at Christ Episcopal Church. The yard sale and book sale will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. J.B.’s barbecue plates, with dessert, will be available for $10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friends of the Library encourage everyone to “help us help you.” “Spring Fest” activities set for April 8 at Marshall There will be fun for all during a “Spring Fest” at Marshall Academy on Saturday, April 8, starting at 1 p.m. Activities include a track meet, moon bounce, obstacle course, Velcro wall, inflatable giant slide, cake walk, live music and many more fun-filled games for the kids. The raffle prizes, including the 4x4 Gator will be given away that day. Fish plates, cooked by Kenny Dickerson will be on sale for $10 each between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Take-outs will be available. To pre-order fish plates, call Susie Murphy at 252-6479. Also, there will be a three-on-three baskeball tournament that afternoon with two age divisions for men and women. The entry fee is $120, with no more than five players per team. Those interested in entering the tournament should call coach Craig Dailey at 252-3452. VFW Ladies Auxiliary collects books for Gulf Coast libraries The Collins-Hurdle VFW Post 5697 Ladies Auxiliary is collecting children’s books for Hurricane Katrina victims. The books will be used in temporary libraries on the Gulf Coast. New or used books are needed. For more information or to donate books, call Suzie Sexton at 252-6470, or books can be dropped off at United Country 1st Rate Real Estate. Annual Pilgrimage activities scheduled April 21-23 The 68th annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage, sponsored by the Holly Springs Garden Club, is a few weeks away, April 21-23.
