• GROWING VEGETABLES The Mississippi State University Extension Service will hold a training session on raising quality vegetables in the commercial garden, 3 p.m. The program will be held at the Marshall County Extension office, and is a free meeting. Topics discussed will be varieties, fertility, pest control and handling. To register, please call the Marshall County Extension office at 252-3541.

• HUGE YARD SALE Inside/out, Fri., March 31, 7:30-4, New Hope Village Homeless Shelter, 488 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Holly Springs. Lots of good, cheap stuff: clothes, shoes, jewelry, appliances, bedding.

Saturday

• YARD SALE The Big Star Baggers will have a yard sale for Relay For Life, Sat., April 1, beginning at 7 a.m. in the Carlisle’s Big Star parking lot, Holly Springs. They will also be selling hamburgers, hotdogs and smoked sausage. Please come help them meet their goal for the American Cancer Society.

• YARD SALE Youth fundraiser at First Baptist Church, Byhalia. 2555 Church St., Sat., April 1.

• Divorce recovery group will meet Apr. 1 at 12:30, Byhalia United Methodist Church, in rear of church in fellowship hall. Refreshments will be served. Call Lena Holloway, 838-2296 for more info.

• YARD & BOOK SALE The Friends of the Library yard and book sale will be held from 3-7 p.m. J.B’s barbecue plate and dessert will be sold for $10 per plate, 5-7 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church. Help us, help you!

• SPAGHETTI SUPPER The Marshall County Habitat for Humanity will have a spaghetti dinner, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oak Palace, 580 Stewart St. Dinner is $7.00 and consists of spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. Eat-in or take-out.

• REGISTER The last day to register for youth baseball, ages 3-12, is Thurs., April 6. There is an entry fee. You may register at the Holly Springs Parks and Recreation, City Hall, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or call 252-4807.

April 7

• SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, 126 W. Van Dorn, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.

• FISH FRY The Cayce VFD, 30 Lee Creek Road, will be having a fish fry, 5-7:30 p.m. Sheriff Kenny Dickerson will be cooking. Meal consists of fish, fries, slaw, hushpuppies, dessert, tea or coffee. Tickets can be purchased at A-1 Small Engines, Gossett’s Auto Parts, Carol’s Beauty Shop, the Little Place, any firefighter or at the door.

• PTA basketball tournament, H.W. Byers School, Fri., April 7, 6 p.m. and Sat., April 8, 12 noon. Each team is asked to sign up with a $50 entry fee. Funds raised will go toward school improvements. Spectators will have dunking and 3-pt. shooting contests.

• FISH FRY Fri., April 7, Holly Springs Multi-Purpose Building, Memphis St., in Holly Springs, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sponsored by Smith Grove MB Church. Bobby Harris will be the cook. For delivery call 560-3472 or 564-2845.

• Spring Fest will be held at Marshall Academy, beginning at 1 p.m. There will be games for the children, live music, track meet, raffles, fish plates cooked by Kenny Dickerson for sale and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for men and women. • NO SINGING New Hope Baptist Church, Hwy 72, Slayden, will NOT have their regular singing Sat., April 8, due to homecoming Sun., April 23.

• SINGING Emmanuel Baptist Church located on Red Banks Road will have their gospel singing with The Willing Hearts from Tupelo as featured groups. Fellowship supper will be held at 5 p.m. and singing at 6 p.m. Bro. Don and congregation invite all.

• BARREL RACES The Marshall County Fair Association hosts the Kudzu Klassic 4-D Barrel Race Series, beginning at 9 a.m. This event will make up for the February 18 cancellation. For more information call Beth at 662-252-5441.

• MEETING The Marshall County Republican Club will meet Sat., April 8, 10 a.m. at the Northcentral EPA, Hwy 309 S., Byhalia. Speaker to be announced. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

• APPRECIATION SERVICE Mt. Sinai COGIC of Mt. Pleasant will have an appreciation service for their first lady, missionary Richenda Pritchard, Sun., Apr. 9, 2:30 p.m. Special guests will be Missionary Pass and the missionaries of Christ Temple COGIC of Holly Springs. • REVIVAL Community Temple Holiness spring revival will be April 12-14, 7:30 nightly. Guest speaker will be Pastor Edward of Calvary Temple in Memphis, Tenn. Host pastor, Elder Frank Moore.

• FELLOWSHIP SERVICES Mt. Sinai MB Church, Byhalia, will host their annual fellowship services, April 12-14, 7 p.m. nightly. Minister Tony Taylor of Chulahoma MB Church will be the guest speaker. Various churches and ministers will be special guests. The public is invited.

April 14

• MEETING Marshall County Retired Education Personnel will meet Fri., April 14, 1 p.m. at Dreamland. Lawrence Autry will serve dinner to the teachers.

April 15

• CANCER FUND RAISER The Big Star Baggers are already hard at work for the local Relay For Life - American Cancer Society fund raiser to help raise money to find a cure for cancer. But they need your help. The Big Star Baggers are selling tickets for a scrumptious deep-fried turkey, which will be ready for pick-up April 15 -- just in time for Easter dinner. You may purchase a turkey for $25 or a Cajun-spice injected turkey for $30. For more information, talk to any Big Star Bagger at Carlisle’s Big Star in Holly Springs.

April 16
