Devils, Lions Cardinals earn all-district recognition By BARRY BURLESON Ashland, H.W. Byers and Potts Camp were well represented on the Division 1-2A all-district basketball teams released last week. Ashland High School topped the lists, thanks to both teams, the Blue Devils and the Lady Blue Devils, winning the division tournament championship. Coach Jessie Terry was named Coach of the Year on both the girls’ and boys’ sides. Coach Terry’s Ashland boys finished 19-10 and were eliminated in the first round of the Class 2A State Tournament, while the girls finished 19-6 and were ousted in North Half play. Girls Ashland’s Sharon Traylor was named the district’s best defensive player. Other Lady Devils selected all-district were Martamara Richard, Vakela Crawford, Labrita Hampton and Crystal Hunt. Rounding out the all-district girls team are:
Boys Ashland’s Fred Moore was named the district’s best defensive player. Potts Camp’s Jacobye Davis was chosen the top offensive player. Others on the boys all-district list are:
