& Mt. Pleasant News Allene Teel Sympathy extended to Curl family Sympathy and love are expressed to John Bricky Curl and family in the death of his mother, Olean Curl. Dot Langston and family members traveled to Branson, Mo. for a week to visit with Rick Langston and family. Rick has a show Keeping It Country at the Little Opry Theatre. If you take a vacation to Branson stop by to see Rick and his band. I received a phone call from a friend in Kuwait recently. She is there teaching school. I Remember When our children were in school at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, I was a room mother. There were three other mothers who also filled this role. We would celebrate the childrens birthdays with cakes, drinks and gifts. We always had a party at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also planned trips for the class. Today they are called field trips. During this time my husband was a school bus driver and was asked to take us on these trips. The children loved to go on picnics or trips to the Memphis Zoo. I remember on one trip we went to the Memphis airport. The guide took us inside a big plane to show us around. The children all got to sit and buckle themselves into seats. My husband was quite the prankster and asked if we were ready to take off. One of the little girls began to cry and scream, No! No! at the top of her lungs. It took a while to convince her that the plane wasnt going to leave the ground. I was also the publicity chairman for the PTA. These were good years in my life. As the old saying goes, A lot of water has run under the bridge since all of this. Writing brings back so many memories that Ive had at Mt. Pleasant School. Not only when I was a student, but when my children and grandchildren were in school. My youngest daughter, Madge, was Miss M.P.C.A. Report News:
