Calendar of Events


• Wild game dinner, Thurs., March 9, 6 p.m. Fitch Farms, Galena Plantation. Sponsored by First Baptist Church, Holly Springs. All men are encouraged to bring their favorite wild game dish to this event. Call the church office by Tues., March 7 at 252-2627, if you plan to attend. Joan Fitch’s staff will also be preparing stew. No charge, but donations will be accepted for the Baptist Men’s Ministry Projects. Guest speaker will be Jay Harvill.

• ATTENTION PARENTS: Mrs. Brandt, English II teacher, will meet with all parents of English II students at Byhalia High School on March 9, 7 p.m. to discuss state subject area testing. Please plan to attend.

• SINGING Heritage Apostolic Church and Pastor G. R. Travis invite everyone to a singing with Rev. Don Johnson of Memphis as guest singer/preacher at 7 p.m. The church is located at 204 Heritage Drive.


• SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, 126 W. Van Dorn, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.


• SINGING Emmanuel Baptist Church, Red Banks Rd., will have singing Sat., March 11, featuring the Williams Family from Wrenn. Fellowship at 5 p.m., singing to follow at 6 p.m. Bro. Don and congregation invite all.

• Singing, New Hope Baptist Church, Hwy 72, Slayden, will have singing Sat., March 11, 7 p.m. with Picking Up the Pieces of Mooreville. Bro. Billy Adair and congregation invite all to attend. Fellowship after singing.

• HOMECOMING Hudsonville CME Church, Bobby Wilson, pastor, will have homecoming, Sun., March 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sand Hill MB Church and Pastor Etoy Bogard will be special guests.

• PTA H.W. Byers PTA monthly meeting will be held in the school cafeteria, 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

• WINGS OF HOPE will meet at the First Baptist Church Activity Building in Holly Springs, 6 p.m. All cancer patients invited. There will be a guest speaker.

March 17

• BANQUET The Kimbrough Chapel Church family will be hosting their pastor and wife banquet, 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Guest speaker will be Rev. Levy Jones from Gary, Ind. and is sponsored by the Pastor-Aide committee.

• MEETING Marshall County Republicans will meet at the Holly Springs Country Club, 564 W. Woodward Ave., Sat., March 18, 10 a.m. Speaker will be Betty Byrd, tax collector. Lunch will be served, $7 per person. The public is invited.

• GOSPEL SINGING Clear Creek Baptist hosts a gospel singing with The Masters Quartet from Tupelo. Fellowship at 6 p.m., singing at 7 p.m. This is one you don’t want to miss. The church is located on Clear Creek Road, Lamar, MS.

• SWEETHEART BALL The annual Sweetheart Ball that was scheduled for Feb. 18 has been rescheduled for March 18, 6:30 p.m. in the Hudsonville Family Life Center.

• CHILDREN’S CHURCH Kimbrough Chapel Church is hosting their Children’s Church, 10 a.m. sponsored by Minister Arlene Luellen and Stella Bryson. The public is invited. Friday, March 24, Friday Night Fight will be held, and Sunday, March 26, Men’s & Women’s Day program will be held at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Archie Bowers, Hearn Grove Church.

• TWELVE TRIBES PROGRAM True Vine MB Church will have a 12 Tribes program, Sun., March 19, 2 p.m. Pastor Michael Adams and St. Paul CME Church will be guests. Pastor Darrell Cunningham, host pastor.

• STATE DRIVE PROGRAM Sun., March 19, St. Mark Church will sponsor their annual State Drive program. The public is invited.

• LIVE IN CONCERT Gospel recording artists “The Galloways” of Nashville, Tenn. will be in concert at the church in Victoria to help celebrate Friendship Assembly of God’s 26th anniversary service, beginning at 10 a.m.

• PASTOR’S LOVE DAY PROGRAM Rising Star MB Church, with guest speaker Pastor James Rosser and Lagoshen Baptist Church of Rossville, Tenn., March 19, 3 p.m.

• MEN’S & WOMEN’S DAY will be held at Community Temple Holiness all day long. There will be a morning and afternoon speaker. Dinner will be served. Pastor is Elder Frank Moore.

• MEN AND WOMEN DAY will be held at Kimbrough Chapel, 11 a.m. Rev. Marvin Brook will be the guest speaker. Children’s service will be held at 10 a.m. sponsored by Minister Arlena Luellen.

March 23

• MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library, 6 p.m. If you cannot attend, call Mrs. Hicks at 252-5920.

March 30

• ANNIVERSARY The Byhalia Lions Club is celebrating their 60th anniversary at the Hilton Hotel on Ridgeway in Memphis. Guest speaker will be author Victor Robilio. For additional information call Charles Crain, 662-838-2132 or Paul Sumners, 901-489-1120.

• PTA MEETING will be held at the Holly Springs Primary School, 5:30 p.m.

• WOMEN’S CONFERENCE Anderson Chapel CME Church located at 730 Martin Luther King Drive will host a women’s conference on March 24-25. The kick off will begin on Friday, March 24 at 12:00 noon. • Stewards and Stewardess Day at Anderson Chapel CME Church will be celebrated on March 19 beginning at 10:45 a.m. Presiding Elder Jesse Banks of Louisiana will be the morning speaker and Mrs. Maggie Banks, president of the Connectional Ministers’ Spouses Department will be the afternoon speaker. • ANNUAL MEETING The Marshall County Water Association will have their annual meeting at 512 Wingo Road at 6:30 p.m.

• BROWN BAG LUNCH Friends of the Library, Brown Bag lunch, will meet at 11:30 a.m. in the Marshall County Library with a speaker at 12 noon. Bring a sandwich; drinks and dessert provided.

April 19-21

• SPRING REVIVAL Rising Star is hosting their spring revival, 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Ronnie Strong and New Independence Baptist Church, Coldwater.

May 20

• REUNION The A.J. and Edna Collier Smith Reunion will be held at the Wall Doxey State Park Lodge on Saturday, May 20. Family members are asked to bring a covered dish for lunch.
