Congratulations to Pastor James and wife on 39th wedding anniversary

Worship service was held at Hopewell No. 1 Sunday Feb. 13, 10:45 a.m. with Pastor James calling to worship. Devotional service led by the deacons. Music provided by the choir. Bro. Ben Cole II led in Responsive Reading from Mark 7:17-23. Benevolent, tithes and offering received by the ushers and church officials. Mayor Andre DeBerry conducted altar call. Sis. Alberta Griffin recognized non-members, Hopewell No. 2 members. Hymn of the morning was “I Love the Lord.” Scripture was taken from Psalm 139, subject No Escape. Financial report was given by the clerk. Benediction by Pastor James. Hopewell No. 1’s members’ birthdays in February are Sidney Govan, 7; Don Waller, 10; Mary Jane Faulkner, 14; Ms. Zinn, 15; Yvonne Pinson, 18; Beauty DeBerry, 18; Dayton Reed Jr., 22; Elesha Walton, 23; and Krystal DeBerry, 18. We sang happy birthday to all of them. Heroine of Jericho Court No. 14 met at the Library Feb 12. Hopewell No. 1 main Black History program will be the third Sunday in February. Pastor Ernest Jones and New Hope Baptist Church will be our guests.

Congratulations to pastor and first lady Sis. Henretta James who recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary and he presented her with a bouquet of red roses during worship service.

Worship service was held at Samuel Chapel 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 with Pastor Davis calling to worship. Scripture, Sis. Genetha Smith, Psalm 1-9. Devotion, deacons and congregation. Selection, senior choir.

Statement of faith led by Pastor Davis. Announcements by Sis. Frances Baird. Prayer list, Sis. Luciel Elliott in Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Pastoral prayer. Selection, choir soloist Angela Williams. Offering, ushers and church officials. Moments of Black History by the Notore Baptist Church. Selection, choir sang “Swing Low Sweet Chariot.” Hymn of the morning was “Amazing Grace.” Pastor Davis’s Scripture was from Proverbs 3:7-8, subject You Need to Lose Your Mind. Prayer and benediction, Pastor Davis. Musicians: Donald Thompson on keyboard, Robert Tallie Jr. on drums.
