By CLAUDE VINSON

The annual tournament for junior varsity teams in the area was held last weekend at the Intermediate School Gym on West Valley Street in Holly Springs. It featured teams from Holly Springs, Galena, Henry Jr. High and Holy Family.

The Pee Wee Division crown was captured by Holly Springs, but that would be all the first place glory that school would grab.

The Galena Lady Eagles disposed of the Holly Springs Lady Hawks in the championship game on Saturday to repeat as champions. They grabbed the advantage early on and coasted to the 59-21 win.

The Lady Eagles finished the season with a mark of 19-4 under third year head coach Kenji Wells.

The Galena Eagles were in a nip-and-tuck game with the junior high Hawks of Holly Springs. The lead changed hands numerous times while the Eagles eked out a nail-biting victory of 50-47.

Galena finished the season with an 18-5 record.
