  • SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be held at the permanent site, 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.


  • MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis Parade Committee will meet at Trinity Mission at 5:30 p.m.
  • MEETING Potts Camp FFA alumni will meet Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Potts Camp School ag building.
  • BINGO Collins Hurdle Post No. 5697 VFW has bingo every Thurs. Doors open at 6 p.m.

  • SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s new thrift store, Second Time Around, will be open Fri. and Sat., from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., 126 W. Van Dorn.
  • BANQUET Church of the Living Gospel will have their Valentine’s banquet Fri., Feb. 18, 7-11 p.m. Small admission. There will be roller-skating and games. We’ll be taking pictures, so bring your sweetheart and have one made for a small charge. Concessions also available. Bring your own roller skates. Located behind Ed’s Pawn Shop.

  • CO-OP MEETING Family Farmers’ co-op and vegetable growers will have a meeting, Feb. 24 and March 10 to plan for the MS association of cooperatives’ 33rd annual meeting to be held in Memphis. The Feb. 24 and March 10 meetings will be held at Rust College communications hall at 6 p.m. All farmers and producers are invited.

They will be joined by the University of Mississippi’s Men’s Glee Club. The community and all parents are invited to come out. The PTA will meet Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

  • HOMECOMING Bro. John Smith and the Traveling Stars from Memphis, Tenn. will have their second annual homecoming at Jones Grove Church, Sun., Feb. 27, 7 p.m. Several gospel groups will be on the program. MC, Sis. Pat Boga. Public is invited, donation at the door.
  • BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM Isaac Chapel Church of Byhalia will be climaxing their black history program with the Twelve Tribes, Sun., Feb. 27, 2 p.m. Rev. A.V. Warren will be the speaker. Rev. Willie Ward, pastor. Everyone is invited.
  • FIRST SERMON Minister MacArthur Crutcher will deliver his first sermon at 11 a.m. on Feb. 27 at Mt. Newell MB Church, along with the black history program. Rev. Arthur Fitchpatrick, pastor.

  • BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM Holly Springs Primary School presents a black history program, Mon., Feb. 28, 9:30 a.m. The public is invited.

March 1

  • BROWN BAG LUNCH At the Marshall County Library, 12 noon. Mississippi author Lola Autry will be presenting the program and signing her new book, “Please God, I’m A City Girl, What Am I Doing In The Country.” Bring a sandwich; drink and dessert provided.
