Calendar of Events

Friday

• FILM “The Truth About Hip-Hop” will be shown at St. Mark MB Church, Dec. 30, 6 p.m. Every parent and child is encouraged to attend. This film reveals the truth about the hip-hop culture. Free admission, love offering will be taken with proceeds going to Elder G. Craig Lewis for EX Ministries. Refreshments will be served.

New Year’s Eve

• WATCH NIGHT SERVICE Smith Grove MB Church, Dec. 31, with a fellowship hour beginning at 9 p.m. and service at 10 p.m. Chulahoma, Jeffries chapel, Mt. Moriah and Mt. Peel MB Churches will also be participating. Everyone is cordially invited.

• WATCH NIGHT SERVICE Rising Star Church, Dec. 31, 9 p.m. Pastor Robert McClain, 2519 Higdon Rd. Musical guests, The Christian Young Men.

• Watch night service, Jones Grove Church, 7 p.m., Sat., Dec. 31, with the Gospel Travelers and others. Everyone is invited.

• WATCH NIGHT SERVICE Dec. 31, 7 p.m. until. Clear Creek Baptist Church, with the Williams Family of Wrenn as featured singers. Everyone is cordially invited.

• WATCH NIGHT SERVICE New Hope Baptist Church Hwy. 72 Slayden, will have a Watch Night service Sat., Dec. 31, Starting at 8 p.m. Featured group will be the Ross Family from Mifflin, Tenn. Bro. Billy Adair and congregation invite everyone to attend. Supper will be served midway in the service.

• WATCH NIGHT SERVICE Evangel Full Gospel Assembly, beginning at 8 p.m. Bro. Fred Scherff and Debt Free of Florence will be featured guests, along with local singers. Congregational singing for all. Everyone is invited to attend all or part of this special service.

Tuesday

• BROWN BAG LUNCH Friends of the Library, Brown Bag lunch, will meet at 11:30 a.m. in the Marshall County Library with a speaker at 12 noon. Bring a sandwich; drinks and dessert provided.

• SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The Marshall County Humane Society’s low cost spay/neuter program will be open at 646 Old Hwy 78 E. Call 252-6196 for the necessary appointment.

January 5

• 4-H MEETING The Lessye Lee Davis 4-H Club will meet at the Marshall County Library at 6 p.m. New members welcome.

January 6

• SECOND TIME AROUND The Marshall County Humane Society’s thrift store, Second Time Around, 126 W. Van Dorn, located next to Bailey Printing in Holly Springs, will be open Fri. from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sat., 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 662-564-2900 for pick-up information on your donation.

January 7

• Singing, Holly Hill Baptist Church, Sat., Jan. 7, 6 p.m. Singers will be the Barnetts from Stanton, Tenn. Bro. Frank Feathers and congregation invites all.

• MEETING The Red Banks Cemetery Association quarterly meeting will be held Sat., Jan. 7, 9 a.m.

• NO SINGING New Hope Baptist Church, Hwy 72, Slayden, will not have their regular monthly singing Jan. 14, due to Watch Night service on Dec. 31.

• MEETING The Marshall County Republican Club monthly meeting will be held on Jan. 14. Elections for the board of directors for 2006 will take place at this meeting. The meeting will be held at North Central Power Co. in Byhalia at 10 a.m. Light snacks and coffee will be served. The public is invited to attend.

January 16

• MEMORIAL BREAKFAST The Marshall County NAACP memorial MLK breakfast will be observed Mon., Jan. 16, 8 a.m. in the Hudsonville CME Church fellowship hall. Rev. Bobby Wilson will be speaker.

January 17
