Local students receive degrees from Ole Miss

The following students from this area are among the University of Mississippi’s 645 December candidates for degrees:

Betty Ruth Berryman, Emery K. Carrington, Charles Michael Clifton, William Curtis Duren, all of Byhalia; Levanda Oleaver Goodman, Tamara Dale Burton, Ejeera Y. Selmer-Joiner, all of Holly Springs; Pamela Ann Boren, Lindsey Suzanne Edwards, both of Potts Camp; Tamara Lynese Hillmer of Waterford.


A perfect start for a perfect student

Devont’e Frost (Bowen), a sixth grade student at Holly Springs Intermediate School was the only student in the sixth grade to make the Superintendent’s List. Devont’e has always been an all-A student since kindergarten.

He is the son of Teresa Frost and Sgt. Darryl Bowen of Holly Springs. He has one brother, Co Darryl Bowen. His grandparents are Jimmy and Martha Young of Holly Springs and Auther and Namiona Bowen of Holly Springs. His great-grandparents are the late Roosevelt and Adlena Harris of Ashland and the late Harold and Queenella Reynolds of Holly Springs.

Devont’e was awarded special recognition, gift bag full of goodness from his principal, and a free lunch at Sonic. A party was held in his honor on Sunday, Dec. 18 at The Hut.

He shared it with his classmates, family and friends. Everyone is proud of him. Devont’e wants to become a doctor. So get ready world. He is on his way!
