North State next week at Marshall Academy

Marshall Academy will host the Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA) North AA Basketball Tournament next week in Holly Springs.

The tournament field will include eight varsity boys and eight varsity girls teams, representing Districts 1 and 2.

The North Half participants will be determined in this week’s District Tournaments, with the top four district finishers in boys and girls advancing.

Schools in District 1 are Marshall Academy, Bayou Academy, Carroll Academy, Indianola Academy, Kirk Academy, Lee (MS) Academy and North Delta School.

Schools in District 2 are Canton Academy, East Rankin Academy, Leake Academy, Manchester Academy, Simpson Academy, University Christian School and Winston Academy.

Competition in the North AA Tournament opens Tuesday, Feb. 8, and Wednesday, Feb. 9, with four games each day, the first starting at 4 p.m. There will be no games on Thursday.

Play resumes Friday, Feb. 11, with four games, girls at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and boys at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The consolation and championship contests will be played Saturday, Feb. 12 – girls at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and boys at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Admission will be $5 for the Tuesday and Wednesday games. Friday and Saturday, admission will be $5 for each session, afternoon and evening. There will be no student passes. Only official MPSA passes will be accepted.

The top four girls and boys teams from the North AA Tournament will advance to the Class AA State Tournament February 15, 16, 18, 19 at Brookhaven Academy.
