Pleasant News Fortner home setting for Adult Sunday School Christmas party; Carey Chapel hosts Christmas card and gift making workshop A large crowd attended the deacon ordination service for Kevin McClure Sunday night, November 27, at FBC, Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Troy Styers, from Millington, Tenn., was the guest speaker. Bro. Ken Guffey and Rev. Jimmy Sparks also spoke. Billy McClure sang the special music. A fellowship was enjoyed afterwards. News Waterford Lodge No. 450 hosts dedication and ribbon cutting December 17 Thanksgiving holidays were observed in various homes with out of town guests and some families visited out of town during the holidays. Among some of the guests in the Waterford community were James Walton and son from Atlanta, Ga., Barbara Dixon from Memphis, Tenn. and Curry family members from Oxford. Elmira Curry, Alexandria Blake and baby, Evelyn C. Elliott, Samantha, Catina J. Newson and husband, Marquis and Ashleigh Johnson spent the Thanksgiving holidays in Houston, Texas visiting their granddaughter, daughter, sister and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Jenkins (Rosell Jeffries). Rev. Dr. Coker George delivered an inspiring message at Greenfield Presbyterian Church on Sun., Dec. 4, 11 a.m. His message was taken from Mark 1:1-8. He used for a subject, “Repent and turn back to God. No place to hide.” A Musician Appreciation program was held at Greenfield Presbyterian Church, Sun., Dec. 4, 3 p.m. Bro. Larry Martin, master of ceremonies; guest church, McIntyre. Guest choirs were McIntyre Church, Luellen Singers, Hamilton choir, Memphis Messengers, Bro. James Coleman and Bro. Clyde Nevels. Pastor, Rev. Coker George gave the benediction. Waterford Lodge No. 450 will have a dedication and ribbon cutting at the Waterford Lodge, Sat., Dec. 17, 12 noon. Refreshments will be served.
