You may also e-mail your City Personal news to south@dixie-net.com) Miss April Slayden to wed Jeffrey Mitchell December 31 Mr. and Mrs. Wynne Slayden of Madison announce the engagement of their daughter, April Marie, to Jeffrey Rhea Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lem E. Mitchell of Magnolia. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Clara Rikard Russell and the late Bilbo Russell of Sardis; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Curtis Slayden of Oxford, formerly of Holly Springs. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Doyce Mitchell, now of Madison and formerly of Cleveland, and the late Quinton Allan Mitchell; and Mildred Rhea, now of Madison and formerly of Jackson, and the late James Earl Rhea. Miss Slayden was graduated magna cum laude with honors in computer science from Millsaps College in 2001. While at Millsaps, Slayden served as student body president, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and was a member of Chi Omega fraternity. She received a masters degree in computer science from the University of Rochester in 2002, and currently works as a software engineer for Hewlett Packard Labs in Palo Alto, California. Mitchell was graduated from Millsaps College with a bachelors degree in sociology in 2001 and a master of business administration in 2003. He served as president of Kappa Sigma fraternity, was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, and was a four-year member of the Millsaps baseball team. While in MBA school, Mitchell served as the director of sports information at Millsaps and was an assistant baseball coach. He will receive his juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi in December 2005. The couple will exchange vows December 31, 2005, at 7 p.m. at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Madison. Birth Announcement White Travis White and Rachel Payne of Holly Springs are pleased to announce the birth of a son, Travis Daniel White Jr., born Oct. 31, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He weighed seven pounds, three ounces. Grandparents are Sam Pryor and Ruthie Payne of Holly Springs and Oliver Phalen White of Holly Springs.
